Who was the only president to authorize the use of atomic weapons?

Truman authorized the dropping of two atomic bombs on Japan, primarily to avoid massive Allied casualties in that region and to hasten the end of World War II. More than 250,000 people were estimated to have been killed on impact or later by exposure to radioactivity.
