Which president helped stock the Library of Congress by selling the government his extensive personal library?

After the War of 1812 left the original small congressional library destroyed, Thomas Jefferson offered to sell the government his personal library of 6,487 books to help restart the Congressional library. Today, the Library of Congress fills over 500 miles of shelves in three enormous buildings.
