How many colonies did the British found on the Atlantic coastline of North America?

The 14th and last British colony was Nova Scotia, founded in 1749. Despite an uprising during the American Revolution, it was stamped out early. Nova Scotia became self-governing in 1848 and joined the Canadian Confederation in 1867.
